    Governing Board Chair [email protected]

Hi Everyone, my name is Josh Blum and I am so excited to serve as the Chair of Hillel for 2017! I am a huge Michigan football fan from Atlanta, Georgia who also happens to love watching the Bachelor. Yes, it’s a guilty pleasure. I am excited to work with the Governing Board this year and to help try and make Hillel the best place it can be. I am eager to hear your suggestions. I also really enjoy getting to know people and I’d love to take anyone out to coffee to chat about life, college, Hillel, and other fun things. Finally, I’d like to thank you for reading the whole of my mini-biography. If you have any questions or would like to grab coffee sometime, please email me at [email protected]. 2017 is going to be a great year!

    Vice Chair [email protected]

Hi guys! My name is Mara Cranis, and I am so excited and incredibly honored to serve as your Vice Chair this year. I am a junior hailing from West Bloomfield, MI, studying Psychology and hoping to attend optometry school after completing my undergraduate studies.  I am very passionate about Hillel and always look for ideas to help this community grow in ways that cater to the needs of students coming from all backgrounds. If you want to get coffee or just hangout please don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or (248) 752-6321. It’s gonna be a great year!

  • Joe Goldberg

    External Relations [email protected]

Shalom y’all, my name is Joe Goldberg and I’m ecstatic to be Hillel’s External Relations Coordinator for the upcoming year. Graduate Student Member [email protected]

Hey! I’m a Robotics PhD Student and National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate Fellow with research interests in human-robot interaction, human factors, and cognitive ergonomics. Beyond serving on Michigan Hillel’s governing board, I strive for Jewish graduate students from all 19 schools and colleges to feel that they belong in our community, as well as help undergrads have a smooth transition to post-college life. I was formerly the President of the Duke University Jewish Student Union and returned home to the Washington, DC area after college to work for an air traffic control engineering and research company. I founded the Jewish young adult community’s DC Design Workshop and was elected DC’s Jewish Guy of the Year by Gather the Jews. Currently, I am a Moishe House Without Walls Host and a member of the ROI Community. If you’re a current or prospective graduate student, send me an e-mail! I’d love to get to know you and welcome you to our community.

I’ve lived in Ann Arbor for several years, and love being a townie. I work at the Erb Institute at UofM, with students and alumni in our MBA/MS program through the Ross School of Business and the School of Natural Resources and Environment. I’m excited to serve as a community member on Hillel’s governing board, since it’s a new way for me to be involved in Jewish life, and to connect with undergrads (I only work with grad students in my day job). Outside of work and Hillel, I’m a year-round cyclist, and I enjoy growing, eating, and cooking sustainable food, among other stereotypically treehugging activities

I’m a want-to-be UM student but really just a member of the community! I’ve worked for Jewish foundations and nonprofits for almost twenty years and am currently Executive Director of the Mandell and Madeleine Berman Foundation and also Director of Philanthropic Advising at Rosov Consulting. My two sons, Eli and Caleb, ages 14 and 11, are rabid Michigan fans, along with my husband David, a social worker and lawyer. Attending the Governing Board meetings makes my day — truly — and I never cease to be impressed by the Michigan Hillel student leaders and staff.
