Prospective Students

Thinking about coming to U-M?

If you are considering coming to Michigan, it’s a good idea to visit campus and get a taste of what life is like here. In addition to getting an official U-M campus tour, Hillel would love to help you see Jewish life on campus.

Planning to visit this summer?  We’re excited to meet you!  We’re happy to offer you a tour of Hillel and to talk about Jewish life on campus.  Let us know when you plan to stop by and we’ll do our best to make sure staff are available – during the summer Hillel is open Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM.  Contact information is on the right hand side.

During the academic year, we offer several opportunities for prospective students:

  • Meet a student for coffee or a tour to hear about Jewish life on campus
  • Join students for a Friday night Shabbat dinner
  • Spend a night during Shabbat with a current student (generally students only stay for Friday night but when needed we can accommodate Saturday night as well)

Please note: requests must be made at least one week in advance. Requests under 7 days cannot be guaranteed.

*If you are planning on attending Shabbat dinner, prospective students eat for free but parents and families are required to pay for their meals.

*due to high demand, only seniors in high school can stay overnight

**There are some weekends that students can not accommodate guests such as during midterms, finals, and many religious holiday ie: Passover, Yom Kippur

We will not be able to offer overnight accommodations or coordinate meetings between current and prospective students after April 18 (UM’s last day of classes). We are happy to coordinate meetings between prospective students and Hillel staff after April 18.
