Travel to Israel

Michigan Hillel takes multiple groups of students to Israel each year through immersive experiences like Birthright Israel, Onward Israel, and our Campus Leaders Mission Trip. If you would like more information about our trips you can contact Elyssa for more information.

Birthright Israel

Our Hillel runs buses each year, often offering a winter trip (December/January) and several summer trips (May). If you are a Jewish student between the ages of 18-22, you may be eligible for the free trip. Often times, students will go on Birthright Israel and Onward Israel in the same summer to really take advantage of the opportunities these programs can provide! If that’s something you’d like to do, we want you to come with us so you can bring some of the relationships you build back to campus with you. Reach out to Elyssa for more information on when applications and interviews will begin scheduling.

Onward Israel

Join us for Onward, an immersive internship program offering resume-building placements in a wide variety of opportunities in the greater Tel Aviv area. Students spend part of the program living, experiencing, and interning in Israel and the other part of the program at home working with their employer remotely while continuing in other remote educational aspects. Starting Summer 2027, students interested in Onward with Michigan Hillel must also participate in Birthright with Michigan Hillel. If you are not eligible for Birthright or have questions about applications and interview timelines, please contact Elyssa directly.

Leaders’ Trip

Hillel’s Leaders’ Trip is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend 10 unforgettable days in Israel during spring break, exploring the country through a leadership lens. Designed for students of all backgrounds—Jewish and non-Jewish alike. This experience brings together a diverse group of peers who are eager to learn, connect, ask questions, and grow.

You’ll engage directly with many populations that shape Israeli society. From meaningful conversations to immersive experiences, you’ll gain perspectives that challenge and inspire you long after the trip ends.

Spots are limited, so if you’re curious, open-minded, and ready for something bigger than a typical spring break, Hillel’s Leaders’ Trip is calling – Will you answer?
