The Sklar Brothers (’94 and ’94)

Randy and Jason Sklar are identical twin comedians and proud Michigan (and Hillel) alumni. They have released six critically acclaimed comedy albums, have had two Comedy Central Half Hour Presents specials, and currently have a one-hour stand-up special on Netflix, titled “What Are We Talking About,” and another one-hour special that premiered on the Starz Network in May of 2018 called “Hipster Ghosts”.

Wendy Shanker (‘93)

Wendy Shanker is a writer, producer, and creative consultant behind major live and televised events, including The Grammys, iHeartRadio Music Awards, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and GLAAD Media Awards. She has worked with top celebrities and began her career at MTV and VH1. A published author and journalist, Wendy has written three books and contributed to Glamour, Self, Cosmopolitan, and other leading outlets.

Distinguished UM Jewish Alumni Panel moderated by
Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove (‘93)

Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove, Ph.D., a leading Conservative Movement voice at Park Avenue Synagogue, is an author, speaker, and host of the Common Faith podcast. He has published widely, including the 2024 book For Such a Time as This. He holds leadership roles across major Jewish and interfaith organizations and previously represented the Jewish community during Pope Francis’s 2015 visit to the 9/11 Memorial.

Panelist Ted Deutch (‘88 and ‘90)

Ted Deutch, CEO of the American Jewish Committee since 2022, previously served 12 years in the U.S. House representing South Florida. A leader on foreign affairs, he advanced U.S.-Israel cooperation, combated antisemitism, and championed human rights. A former real estate attorney and longtime Jewish community activist, he has held numerous bipartisan leadership roles. Born in Pennsylvania, he lives in Boca Raton with his wife and three children.

Panelist Alex Swieca (2015)

Alex Swieca is Founder/CEO of QB1 Capital, a private investment firm investing across public and private markets. He previously spent 7 years at Coatue Management and founded QB1 Ventures. A former Michigan walk-on quarterback and Israeli National Team QB, he holds a BA in Psychology. Alex lives in New York with his wife and four children and serves on the board of the Swieca Children’s Foundation.

Panelist Dr. Ora Pescovitz

Dr. Ora Pescovitz is president of Oakland University and a nationally recognized physician-scientist and academic leader. From 2009 to 2014, she served as the University of Michigan’s Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs and Health System CEO, overseeing three hospitals, 120 clinics, the medical school, $3.3 billion in revenue, and nearly $500 million in research funding. She is a sought-after speaker on leadership.
