Holiday Host At Home

Holiday Host At Home FAQs

Hosting at home for the High Holidays or Passover? Here’s how it works:

  • Go to michigan.engage.hillel.org and click on “Create an Experience”. Once on the “Create an Experience” page, you’ll answer some initial planning questions.
  • On the Experience Details page, you’ll start filling in the rest of the information about your meal.
  • Submit for approval! You will receive an email confirmation when your meal is approved.
  • Once your meal is live on the Platform, invite your guests using the unique link for your meal! You can do so from your “manage experiences” tab, or directly from your event page. You will be notified by email when guests RSVP.
  • You will be reimbursed $15 a person for up to 10 people.
  • You will use our reimbursement form after your meal. You can find this form in your event approval email. Save your receipts! We do not reimburse for alcohol.
  • You can download your attendance list directly from the platform, make any necessary updates, and upload it directly into the reimbursement form.

High Holiday Host at Home

  • You can host meals in your home during the High Holidays on either Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur but not both.

Passover Host at Home

You will have the opportunity to put together a seder plate kit and pick up haggadot and matzah if needed!

Attend a Seder-Hosting Workshop at Hillel. Go through a seder hosting FAQ, hear from other hosts about ways to make your seder special, and start planning with help from the Hillel Haggadot.

  • Seder Workshops are mandatory for all hosts. Thursday, March 28 5:30PM-6:30PM, Sunday, April 7 11:00AM-12:00PM, and Sunday, April 14 2:00PM-3:00PM.
  • If you register your seder after April 10, we cannot guarantee seder plates.
